Save a schedule that is associated with a proposal in the Proposal XML file format to send to agencies and advertisers. After exporting the schedule and saving the XML file on your computer, you can e-mail it to a media buyer, who can import the schedule into software that accepts the XML format.
Proposal XML export requirements...
• You must save a schedule associated with a proposal on the Tapscan Server to complete the export.
• You cannot export schedules that use NRD (National Regional Database) surveys.
• The schedule must have at least one row, one station toggled on, and dates. Tapscan exports stations with zero spots.
• The schedule cannot contain combined stations or dayparts. Dayparts that cross midnight must end by 5a. The Tapscan broadcast day is the 24-hour period starting at 5a and ending at 5a the next calendar day.
• The current Proposal XML schema does not accept combos.
• You cannot export multiple demos that have the same gender, start age and end age even if they contain different socioeconomic characteristics.
• You cannot export NTR schedules.
To export a schedule to a Proposal XML file:
1. If you use Internet Explorer, you may need to set up Tapscan as a trusted site to avoid displaying an Information Bar and needing to recover your schedule before exporting:
• Close Tapscan.
• On the answers.nielsen.com home page, open the Tools menu in the Internet Explorer toolbar and select Internet Options.
• Open the Security tab, select Trusted Sites and click the Sites button.
• Type https://tapweb.nielsen.com in the Add this website to the zone box and click Add.
• Click Close and then click OK.
• Relaunch Tapscan.
A security message appears to verify you're trying to open Tapscan. Click Yes.
2. Open the proposal and schedule:
• Click the Proposals tab.
• Select an existing proposal.
• Click the Schedule tab.
See Related topics... below for instructions.
3. Click the Export tab.
4. Complete or change the export form:
Fields with a red asterisk are required.
More about completing the Export form...
• The advertiser and any product selected on the Details tab are displayed. If you change the advertiser or product and save the changes during the same Proposal session, Tapscan updates the Export page. Other Export fields also display details based on the account information.
• Maximum characters for:
– Salesperson company = 40
– Salesperson name = 80
– Buyer company = 40
• Type the salesperson's name and company if the fields are blank.
• Type the buyer's company name.
• Type other optional details.
OR click the arrow to select options.
• Select Export Options to include in the export.
A check in the box notes a selected item.
• If you select Export Ratings, select one of the following options: Unadjusted Average Ratings or Unadjusted Average Persons.
Tapscan does not include ratings for unsupported or invalid demos. See Proposal XML export requirements above.
• If you select the Export HD and Streaming Stations check box, the Use Mediaocean naming is selected by default. However, you can change it to Use Nielsen Audio naming.
• If you do not select the Export HD and Streaming Stations check box, depending on the content being exported, you may be prompted to remove or toggle off selected HD and Streaming Stations.
More about exporting HD and Streaming Stations export options...
You can include HD and streaming stations in your Proposal XML export using Mediaocean naming or Nielsen Audio naming. Work with the contact who will be importing your Proposal XML to ensure that you use the correct format for the importing system.
• Some systems support only one naming option; therefore, selecting the wrong option may result in the incorrect interpretation of your proposal, errors, or failure to complete the import.
• Some systems do not support either naming option, in which case it will be necessary to use the default export option which excludes HD and streams.
USE MEDIAOCEAN NAMING
• Select this option if your proposal will be imported into a Mediaocean application.
• When using Mediaocean naming, a different letter is substituted for the first call letter of the station’s name. Each substitute letter indicates a different station type for stations starting with “W” or “K.” For example, WAAA-FM stream would be included as “IAAA-FM,” where “I” indicates FM stream for stations that have “W” as their first call letter.
• Mediaocean importing systems interpret “IAAA-FM” as “WAAA-FM stream.” This is handled by the Mediaocean system and requires no additional input from you. This does not result in any changes to the proposal or export history.
• Some bands are not supported.
• Stations whose call letters do not start with a “W” or “K” are not supported.
• If your schedule contains any unsupported stations, the system will provide a notice. It will be necessary to remove or toggle off the stations that are listed in the notice in order to complete the export.
• The Mediaocean naming option should be used only when you are certain that the importing system uses Mediaocean naming. Systems not using Mediaocean naming will not interpret the band correctly. In the example above, a system not using Mediaocean naming would import the station as “IAAA=FM” and would not correctly identify the station as WAAA-FM stream.
USE NIELSEN AUDIO NAMING
• Select this option if your proposal will be imported into an application that directly supports bands other than AM or FM. This option is not supported by Mediaocean applications. Importing applications that do not support bands other than AM and FM will likely not be able to import XML containing HD or streaming stations.
• When using Nielsen Audio naming, stations are included with their call letters unaltered and the band correctly set to the Nielsen Audio 2-letter band. For example, WAAA-FM stream would be included as “WAAA-IF,” where “IF” is the 2-letter code for FM stream stations.
• All bands are supported.
• Stations whose call letters do not start with a “W” or “K” are also supported; therefore, your Proposal XML export will include all toggled-on stations in the schedule, and the application will not prompt you to remove or toggle off any HD or streaming stations.
5. Click the Export to Proposal XML button in the toolbar.
If nothing seems to happen, look for a light yellow information bar just under your Internet Explorer title bar. Click the X on the Information Bar to close it, close Tapscan, and return to step 1 above.
6. Click OK in the message indicating the export is ready for download.
7. Store the file on your computer:
• In the File Download window, click Save.
• Choose the directory where you want to save the file.
• Optionally, type a new file name.
The default name is the proposal name followed by the version number (i.e., name_V1.xml). Every time you export, the version number increases for that file, even if you cancel from the File Download dialog.
• Click Save.
• Click Close after the download is complete.
To e-mail the report, open your e-mail program and attach the saved .xml file.
