Select market, survey, demo, dayparts, estimates, stations and geography for reports.
To change parameters for:
Market
1 Click the Market link in the parameters pane.
2 Click to highlight the market.
You can type the first letter of the market name instead of scrolling.
If you subscribe to the National Regional Database, it's always at the bottom of the list.
3 Click OK.
Survey
1 Click the Survey link in the parameters pane.
2 Select survey(s) from one of the tabs in the Available box and click the arrow to move them to the Selected box.
Choose up to one year plus one period of surveys — 14 PPM or 5 Diary surveys. For Scarborough surveys, you can select up to two annual surveys to merge. The two must be either both Release 1 or both Release 2.
3 Optionally, save your selection(s) as a favorite for faster setup next time:
• Type a name to represent all the items in the Selected box.
You can use letters, numbers or special characters from the keyboard in the name.
• Click Save.
The name for the group appears in the Favorites box at the top of the window. You can select a favorite name the next time to finish with one click.
4 Click OK.
Demo
1 Click the Demo link in the parameters pane.
2 Select standard demos in the Available box:
• Choose search options for gender and start age with the drop-down boxes.
• Click a demo to highlight it.
OR choose multiple demos for schedules or ranker reports by holding the Ctrl or Shift keys as you click, then click the arrow to move all to the Selected box.
OR select Custom demos that include socioeconomic characteristics:
• Click the Custom tab.
• Select the gender, the start age and the end age with the drop-down boxes in the Available box.
• Click Add More Characteristics to include respondent level data:
– Click an item in the Questions box to highlight it.
– Choose an option from the Answers box and click Add to move the characteristic to the Selections box.
You can also double-click the option to move it without clicking the Add button.
– Repeat to add as many characteristics as needed.
You can combine Listening Location and Preference Level in rankers, composition reports, CCP table and Hour-by-Hour reports. The Listening Location report shows only a preference selection in the socioeconomic dialog and locations are applied to breakouts. The Loyalty Composition report shows only a location selection in the socioeconomic dialog.
Preference level is now available for National Radio Data when you select one survey.
– Use the Remove, Clear Row, and Clear All links if you change your mind.
– Click OK.
• Click the arrow to move the custom demo to the Selected box.
3 Optionally, save your selection(s) as a favorite if you frequently use these choices:
• Type a name to represent all the items you chose.
You can use letters, numbers or special characters from the keyboard in the name.
• Click Save.
The name for the group appears in the Favorites box at the top of the window. You can select a favorite name the next time to finish with one click.
4 Click OK.
Dayparts
1 Click the Daypart link in the parameters pane.
2 Select dayparts in the Available box:
• Select one or more standard dayparts:
– In the Standard tab, press the Ctrl key and click to select one or more dayparts.
– Click the button to move all highlighted dayparts to the Selected box.
• OR create and select a standard combo daypart:
– In the Standard tab, press and hold Ctrl, then click two or more dayparts.
– Click the button to add the combo daypart to the Selected box.
• OR define and select a custom daypart:
– Open the Custom tab.
– Select day(s), a start time and an end time.
– Click the button to add the new daypart to the Selected box.
• OR create and select a custom combo daypart:
– Open the Custom tab.
– Select the days to include in the daypart.
– Select a start time and an end time.
– Click the button to move it to the Selected box that displays below the Available box.
– Repeat to add up to three custom dayparts.
– Click the button to move the combo daypart to the Selected box on the right.
3 Optionally, save the dayparts in the Selected box as a favorite if you frequently use these choices:
• Type a name to represent all the dayparts you chose.
You can use letters, numbers or special characters from the keyboard in the name.
• Click Save.
The name for the group appears in the Favorites box at the top of the window. You can select a favorite name the next time to finish with one click.
4 Click OK.
Estimates
1 Click the Estimates link in the parameters pane.
2 Choose estimates in the Available box and click the arrow to move them to the Selected box.
You can use the arrow to move an item from Selected to Available, or use to clear the Selected box.
3 To change the order of the selected estimates:
• Highlight one of the estimates in the Selected box.
• Click one of the arrows to move the highlighted selection to a new position.
4 Select an estimate for initial sorting and graphing.
5 Include ranking numbers, the analysis total, and/or the market total by selecting the appropriate checkboxes.
You can also choose to include population and in-tab in Age/Gender Comp, Language Comp, Ethnic Comp, Working Persons and Trender reports with two additional checkboxes.
6 Optionally, save your selection(s) as a favorite if you frequently use these choices:
• Type a name to represent all the items in the Selected box.
You can use letters, numbers or special characters from the keyboard in the name.
• Click Save.
The name for the group appears in the Favorites box at the top of the window. You can select a favorite name the next time to finish with one click.
7 Click OK.
Stations
1 Click the Station link in the parameters pane.
In research reports, all stations are selected as the default. Click to clear the Selected box.
2 Sort the Available or Selected list of stations by clicking any column heading.
OR you can search the Available list by station, band or format, owner, home market or metro name.
• Choose the kind of search in the drop-down list.
• Type one or more characters as the basis for the search.
• Click Search.
3 Click to highlight stations in the Available box and then click the arrow to move them to the Selected box.
Standard Windows commands for selecting multiple items work.
OR click the Type or Paste link to add one or more stations.
If you type call letters, include the band and separate multiple stations with commas.
If you get an error when selecting an existing combo...
Create a new combo with the same name as the broken combo causing the error. Be sure to click Save before closing the combo dialog.
4 Optionally, add details (like format) for each station:
• Select the Include Station Details link below the Available box.
• Select item(s) in the Available box and click the arrow to move them to the Selected box.
• To change the order of the columns that will display:
– Highlight the detail in the Selected box.
– Click one of the arrows to move the selected item.
Tapscan saves your detail selections as defaults for future sessions. When the value for a detail item is not available, Unknown and the column name (i.e., Unknown Owner) will display in the column on the Select Stations dialog and in the report. If call letters or other details change, Tapscan will update the details in the report.
5 Optionally, save your selection(s) as a favorite if you frequently use these choices:
• Type a name to represent all the items in the Selected box.
You can use letters, numbers or special characters from the keyboard in the name.
• Click Save.
The name for the group appears in the Favorites box at the top of the window. You can select a favorite name the next time to finish with one click. Station and combo favorites are shared between schedules and reports.
6 Click OK.
Geography
1 Click the Geo link in the parameters pane.
2 Select a standard geographic area in the Available box.
OR click either the Counties or Zip Codes tab to choose a custom geography.
